In the early Fall of 2003, Theatre in the Woods produced David Mamet's "The Woods" to benefit the construction of our new amphitheater, Harrington Amphitheater in beautiful Woodside. Friends, family and guests were invited to enjoy a leisurely and invigorating hike through giant redwoods to experience one of David Mamet's finest dramas. You can view photos taken from the show by clicking on The Woods Photos page. The Woods, described by the Chicago Daily News as a "beautifully conceived love story," is a modern dramatic parable in which a young man and woman who spend a night in his family's cabin in the woods experience first passion, then disillusionment, but are in the end reconciled by mutual need. Richard Eder of the New York Times wrote that Mamet's "language has never been so precise, pure, and affecting." Following the show was a talk-back, where the audience asked questions of the cast and director and provided comments about the performance. A tour of the future home of the Harrington Amphitheater followed the talk-back. Performances were Saturdays @ 2pm on Sept. 27, Oct. 4, and Oct. 11.
Donations were accepted the day of the shows, by cash or check.
Suggested Donation - $15.
Thank you to all who came out to support the show, the company and the construction of the amphitheater. We had an overwhelming response of support from the local community and are appreciative of all the time and contributions made to support us.
